Booked this despite the expense, and it was 100% worth it, can't recommend highly enough. The Wifi was impeccable and worked 100% of the time. The air conditioning helped with the smog, and we were on the non-street side of the hotel and the street noice was much quieter than we expected (although the bar noise on the floor above was so loud at 4am we woke up several nights), and we (mostly) slept soundly and safely. The included snack bar saved us several times with coffee and sparkling water, and the unlimited bottled water available near our room was necessary and appreciated. The breakfast was good at the upstairs restaurant with a lovely view every morning, and the cute little bar was there for a wind down every night (except the actual 11/2 festival day- would have been nice as a hotel guest to have had the option to make a reservation earlier). The security and guest services on the first floor were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile, which is unusual in most hotels and was very much appreciated. They even let us speak a bit of spanish before they started with english since we were struggling- everyone had a good sense of humor. We'll definitely want to stay here again. [The only things we wished for were different firmness of pillows available, and a more efficient shower head (I'm short and had to stand on tiptoe to get enough water in one place to rinse my hair).]

This was my first stay in Mexico City and I recall finding this hotel in Time Out. It sounded perfect because I wanted to stay in an authentic mid-size Mexican Hotel. It is located on the Central Zocalo and near the Temple Major and many many museums in a setting of 19th and early 20the century buildings.

My room and bed were comfy and all was kept tidy and clean by the daily maid service. Lots of wood - floors and furniture and a lovely soft fragrance. I loved all the toiletries and the white plush towels. The air is kind of dry so best to moisterize your skin daily.

The wifi only hesitated a few times and not for long as I don't watch TV and prefer streaming content. If you like TV, they do have a good choice of American, European and British channels...some of we Canadians would appreciate CBC Newsworld, CBC or the french TV service Radio Canada.

The lobby is homey and colourful with lots of well stuffed comfy chair and a 24 hour cafe with free expresso drinks, sandwiches and salads...but you must pay for your wine or beer.

You don't need a car...but there is free parking...apparently..but having witnessed Mexico City traffic...no thanks...I took the tourist bus and walked a lot. the area felt very safe.

An excellent buffet breakfast is served with a nice Mexican flair in a roof top restaurant and on nice days you can sit in the sun or the shade and feel the morning breeze and observe the setting and mountains. The dinners, lunches and service at the hotel restaurant are fantastico!!

The staff were excellent and very hospitable. I shall return next year for a visit to this amazing city and stay here again.

My only modest little problem was I could not get the air conditioning to quietly cool my room. But it being November...I just opened the window a tad and wore ear plugs and no ac was needed and I had a very comfy sleep....no biggie once I figured out an approach.
