In addition to fantastic skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, kids age 6 months to 17 years can enjoy the Kids Ranch at the Cody House, with age-specific activities and lessons through the Fort Wyoming and Wild West Woods ski and snowboard programs. Other activities for kids include snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating, and Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides with wildlife sightings. There are plenty of family-friendly dining options, and the resort’s Teton Village provides slopeside lodging, too.

Grand Targhee Resort
Nearby, Grand Targhee Ski Resort provides two peaks for skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snow tubing and even snow biking. There’s also a Kids’ Fun Zone with organized activities for those who aren’t yet ready for the slopes (or simply need a break). Complimentary to all guests of the resort’s lodge are snowshoe rentals, snowshoe tours with a naturalist, board games and books from the lending library, and internet access. Plus, kids ski free when you a book a minimum of four nights. The resort also provides a heated outdoor pool. Guests can stay slopeside at Targhee Lodge, Teewinot Lodge, Sioux Lodge or the Tower.

Sleeping Giant Ski Area
Three miles from Yellowstone, Sleeping Giant Ski Area in Cody, Wyoming is an intimate ski area that’s perfect for families. Lessons are provided for kids 5 to 14 at the Little Giants Flying Squirrels School, and daily and private lessons are available for all ages. Warm up after skiing at Grizzly Grill, which offers quick bites and snacks, or T-Bar, Wyoming’s smallest full-service bar.

Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area
A few smaller ski areas are located in Wyoming, including Snowy Range in the Snowy Range Mountains outside of Laramie. This Wyoming ski resort offers 29 trails and five lifts. Lift tickets are offered for full- or half-day sessions; discounted multi-day passes are also available. The kids’ camp program provides multi-week lessons for children 5 through 12, and the Snow School provides lessons for all ages, including children under 6 and adults. Snowshoe tours are also offered through the ski area, with one- to two-hour walks through the snowy terrain. Families can warm up all day at Moose Lick Cafe or enjoy apres ski at The Bar.

White Pine Ski Area
In Pinedale, Wyoming, White Pine Ski Area offers 27 trails — including eight for beginners. It’s open Thursdays through Mondays, with tubing offered on Saturdays and Sundays. The Ski & Sports Shop provides rentals and gear for sale, including snowshoes and skates, and lift tickets are provided for full- and half-day sessions; single tickets are also available for purchase. A ski school provides group, private and semi-private lessons, with special programs for children.

Pine Creek Ski Resort
Pine Creek Ski Resort in Cokeville, Wyoming provides 30 trails and a quad lift on its mountain. A small resort, it doesn’t have long lines and is perfect for new skiers. The Wyoming ski resort is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and provides a retail and rental shop, as well as breakfast, lunch and apres ski events.
