Nice hotel, clean and welcoming. Lots of restaurants near. Breakfast would have been good but it was half hour late-someone called in sick at the last minute. Right off 55 so the location was great. Service was good.

When your profession is driving and you spend 14-16 hours a day in a truck and all you want to do at the end of the day go to a room and stretch yourself out on a comfortable bed it’s a little disheartening when you are denied that simple luxury due to a small technicality. Truckers generally work long hours and spend enormous amounts of time on the road far from their homes and families and the little comforts they can obtain come from the truck stops and hotels they spend much of their time at. They work hard to transport goods to help others. Truckers are in many ways the backbone of today’s modern age. My fiancé recently had one of the most horrible interactions at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Joliet, Il. While 300 miles away from home with all his work credentials he forgot his personal wallet at home and he was denied a stay at this hotel. The clerk was ill equipped to handle a situation out of the norm and instead of waiving the need for his personal credit card on file for “incidentals” he was denied a stay. The clerk would not let him talk to the manger, and corporate hide behind the “individually owned properties set their own policies” cop out. He had everything needed for a company driver to stay at a property that took their corporate hotel card, pay was guarantee but because they couldn’t hold $25.00 on his personal credit card because he didn’t have it on him, he was turned away, he offered a check but that was denied as well. I even offered my assistance and my credit card but because I wasn’t there they wouldn’t do it. Now normally I would just let this behavior go but this hardworking loyal family man was 300 miles away from home with no hours left to drive and very tired from a long day and how he was treated by the inept clerk and the absent manager of this property is beyond astounding. The company that looks out for these hard workers are the ones that truly stand above and all I can say Wingate and Wyndham fell short beyond belief this evening. Thank God for those truly amazing people at the Best Western Joliet Inn & Suites whom had no issue with getting him checked in and taken care of for the night. A simple kind act can truly change a persons day, and I can guarantee I will never stay at, associate or patronize a Wingate or Wyndham property ever again. I will not recommend them and I will tell our story about this incident and share it with anyone that will listen. For shame Wyndham
