The Wigwam Motel is an iconic spot preserved by the National Park Service and located along Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona. Staying here is more about the experience and less about the quality of accommodations. Families stay in actual teepees, where the basics include private bathrooms (showers only) and TVs. Be sure to have your photo taken with the vintage cars that are permanently placed on the property. Fun Fact: The Wigwam Motels (there are other locations) are said to be the inspiration for the Cozy Cone Motel in Disney’s “Cars.”

We would like to give this place a 3.5 rating, but we don’t have that option. We were SO looking forward to staying here while driving Route 66. And when we stayed we found the place clean, retro in a good way and loved all the old cars, neon signage and “kitchy” vibe. However, after eventually staying at the Wigwam in San Bernardino, we realized how slightly disappointing this Wigwam was.
The person checking us in was somewhat standoffish and seemed disinterested in talking to us about the Wigwam history and Route 66.
Given all that. We would still recommend this place as a must if you are driving the Mother Road, just make sure you ultimately stay at the one in San Bernardino.

Clean, comfortable beds. Surprised to have a tv in there so my husband was glad since our home baseball team made it to the championship. Basic, no refrigerator but grocery store, Safeway, just across the street with whatever you needs. Cool atmosphere with old cars all around. You are near the train line so just keep you air conditioner/heat on 'fan' all night and you will be fine. Please come and bring business to this lonely town, hoping Wigwam stays around and keeps this town of Holbrook on the map! There was a West Festival there when we arrived in town at the town square. Watching Native American children dressed up in authentic dress and dancing to their songs of heritage. Also, DELICIOUS authentic Mexican food choices at the vendors. Yummy! Didn't see much else to do there so at least stay in the Wigwam, Great experience! So glad we did! The motel also has a cute lobby and tiny museum with interesting items.Friendly service.
