Enjoy contemporary style with a touch of luxury at the 259-room Whitehall in downtown Houston. The rooms are among the largest downtown and feature a blend of expected comforts with local touches. There is complimentary Wi-Fi and complimentary cable and premium movie channels available on the large flat-screen TVs. There are complimentary “Southern Delights” cookies in the room to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea (there is a coffeemaker), complimentary bottled water and mattresses designed to conform to a guests’ shape for a more comfortable night’s sleep. Rooms have one king or two full-size beds. The deluxe king or double guestrooms have an extra half-bath. There is a rooftop swimming pool and sundeck with private cabanas and discounts at the nearby YMCA. The art & Parcel restaurant is outdoors with local bites while Edgar’s Hermano services authentic Mexican-Southern cuisine. There is also Buffalo Bayou Coffee.

A group of friends and I enjoyed a weekend stay at the Whitehall for a birthday celebration. I have to say that the hotel staff is the friendliest and most accommodating, the rooms very clean and comfortable, and the food at their in-house restaurant is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this hotel for a very gratifying experience.

Arrived at the hotel and was greeted by the valet service. Walked into the hotel and it appeared to be a very nice lobby. Things went south when we got to the floor where our hotel room was. The elevator was dirty(see picture below). When we walked out of the elevator the carpet had stains and the walls of the halls were dirty (see pictures). The room itself was cold. We tried to turn on the heater and it did not work. It actually made the room colder. Maintenance was called and they attempted to repair the heater. When they came by and opened up the compartment above the vents there appeared to be black mold inside(see picture). At that point we decided it would be best to stay elsewhere. The front desk helped refund our stay. Unfortunately it is very unlikely that we will be staying here again.
