Included on many Top 10 lists as one of South Carolina’s finest hotels, the Westin Poinsett, Greenville is a 1925 grande dame four-star dripping in location and elegance with marble floors, pretty lighting and yesteryear architecture. A stay at the Poinsett means you can walk easily to the Peace Center, Falls Park on the Reedy and tons of downtown dining and entertainment.
Renovated through the years this historic hotel has 200 rooms and 20 lavish suites with standards offering a king bed or two doubles. Upgrade to a suite for more square footage, a pullout sofa, and stunning views. The Westin Workout Suites offer a treadmill in one room and a spin bike in another. Rooms come with a mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV, and marble bathrooms.
Onsite dining includes the beautiful Piano Bar and Lounge and Spoonbread Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday Brunch in opulent surrounds. Ask about rental bikes that are delivered to the hotel with helmets and locks (for a fee). The property has a fitness room and many value-packages for families. The hotel provides complimentary airport transportation but there is a charge for self and valet parking.

Shout out to Lorena & Eddie at Brunches. Lorena was charming & welcoming. Eddie made killer food & had some homemade granola that was crazy good. Room was not at Westin standards. Leftover food in fridge & bar area was disheveled.

For those who know Latin, you'll recognize that the term "sui generis" means constituting a class alone. For my wife and I, that perfectly describes our experience over many years at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, S.C. Under the capable helm of general manager Fabian Unterzaucher, a hotelier with international experience and a graduate of the famed École hôtelière de Lausanne, the Westin Poinsett hums with efficiency, class and panache. Yes, we could go to some of the newer hotels in Greenville but we always return to this grande dame, who never disappoints. Its location is the best of the Greenville hotels if you wish to experience all that the downtown has to offer. But the primary reason to go there is for its overall ability to please your needs. So, by all means, book a stay here, and while you are there, ask for Fabian and let him know you discovered the hotel through its biggest fans.
