A European city center hotel with a pool is the ultimate in luxury when traveling abroad with kids. Add in a sizable family room featuring a double bed or two beds (plus a sleeper sofa bed for two children), free Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, bath-robes and slippers, in-room tea, coffee and Nespresso, and a stocked mini-bar, and you’ve got the foundation of a perfect family vacation in Madrid. Not only that, but the Hotel Wellington is just two short blocks to the north entrance of Retiro Park, meaning the fun boat rentals are only about five minutes away from your hotel lob-by door!

One of the most beautiful buildings I have ever visited is a sentence that could easily summarize my experience at this property. Located right by the park and the nicest stores in town. It is also a walking distance to the oldest part of town.
The setting: ladies and gents , wait for it, if grand staircases made of marble and covered with mirrors on both sides of the grand entrance makes u feel like royalty, the Wellington is your spot! If a nice sized pool complete w a jacuzzi and fluffy towels complemented by a full service pool side bar is your thing, then you r certainly in the right place. The property is a gem. But a gem only becomes a jewel when afforded the right care. And care is the name of the game when it comes to hospitality. And the service at the establishment is outstanding to put it mildly. There’s everything from babysitting services, to room service, to handle and care of luggage and storage. And more importantly, everything is done w a smile. Now the ornaments on the handcrafted jewel, has to be the food. And the food is glorious. What a vacant word without putting it into the proper context.
THE BREAKFAST—— everything u could imagine, including a grand buffet of Asian food was served. And of course my numero uno, champagne!
In short, probably one of the most glam hotels I have ever stayed at.

I've stayed at the Hotel Wellington a few times over the years. I keep returning because it truly has 5-Star service! Compared to many new hotels with flashy facilities or modern re-branding, the Wellington has been around for many decades, but most importantly, it does not feel old. The furnishings are classic and well maintained; the English Bar has become a home away from home. The concierge service has assisted me in the middle of the night, and made numerous arrangements for me all the easier because I live in Singapore. Martin at the front desk exemplified the confident experience when I asked him for a simple restaurant recommendation, cigar purchasing advice and help in mailing two packages. What I especially liked was the way he treated old time clients or a first time visitor with same warmth and attention. I will always stay at the Wellington and certainly recommend it to friends. Not to mention, it is a 5-Star value!
