Overview
by Julie Bielenberg
Wapiti Lodge was originally built in 1966. However, it is most noted as a hunting property before the motel. Onsite, there were two hunting cabins rented to hunters for many years during the hunting season. The owner continued this tradition with the construction of the Wapiti Lodge and a mess hall for the hunters (now room 12).
Today, the lodge is located within walking distance to historic downtown Durango, including the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Rates are based on double occupancy. There is a $10 per-night, plus tax for each additional person (third person and above) and $20 per-night, plus tax for kitchen use. The Wapiti Lodge offers all non-smoking rooms with or without kitchens, one bed or two beds and rooms that can sleep up to five people. All rooms include free high speed wireless internet.
