Overview
by Lissa Poirot
The only hotel located within Monument Valley Tribal Park provides rooms with views of Monument Valley. Guestrooms in the hotel offer two queen beds, private balconies or patios, mini-fridges, microwaves, flat-screen TV’s and air conditioning. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby, but doesn’t reach all rooms. The hotel’s first floor rooms offer larger spaces and are better suited for families.
The View also manages private cabins within the park. The fully furnished cabins are located on the valley rim and can sleep up to six. Camping — both tent and RV — is also offered through the hotel, providing showers and restroom facilities, as well as a convenience store with camping supplies, food and ice. The View’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again from 5 p.m. until 8 or 9 p.m.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I discovered the existence of this property when I was planning my trip to MV back in August. I had very high expectations and am happy to report The View exceeded them all. We stayed on Nov. 6 and the hotel had very low occupancy so it was incredibly quiet. The HVAC units were our only man-made sounds when they were on. When they were off, you could hear a pin drop from miles away.
Obviously, the view of MV is the main attraction and the pictures on the website do not do it justice. It was surreal, like looking at a painting. We were fortunate since the hotel was so empty to be able to check in early, so we enjoyed the view for 24 hours. Sunset and then sunrise. An unforgettable experience and we are already plotting our return.
A great surprise was the restaurant. Again, the fabulous views abound the dining room and the native cuisine was excellent, much better than expected. We enjoyed dinner and lunch and both meals were delicious and very reasonably priced.
The View is a bit pricey but worth every penny and we cannot wait to return.

First, we really enjoyed the View Hotel facilities, our room and its unique location. But I was struck by the attitude of their staff - in particular the front desk staff. No smiles, no warmth and very distant. Having traveled extensively for many years, this struck me rather odd and in fact saddened me quite a bit. I hope the management reads this and encourages their staff to be cheerful, welcoming and helpful to their guests. It would go a long way to enhance their reputation. But perhaps being the only hotel in the Monument Valley they feel it is not necessary? I hope not.
