Located on the banks of the Willamette River, the Valley River Inn is across the river from downtown Eugene and adjacent to Valley River Center’s 140 stores. The hotel has a riverfront covered deck, a seasonal outdoor pool with an expansive sundeck, indoor whirlpool, fitness center, and 12 miles of walking/biking trails just outside the door. The onsite restaurant, SweetWaters on the River, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, sourcing some seasonal ingredients from its chef’s garden. There’s a breakfast buffet for a set price, and a kids’ menu.
Rooms come in several configurations, including a Deluxe Queen with two queens and a sitting area, and a Deluxe King with one king bed and a sitting area with a sofa bed. Several suite options offer sofa beds, additional living area, and a wet bar with microwave and mini-fridge. Read the fine print to know which amenities are included. Check for specials that include breakfast or dinner for two or a mid-week deal-saver.

My husband and I have stayed here a few times when we come to visit our daughter in college. It has always looked a little run down and in need of a redo, but we liked the location and the bar looking over the river. This time, however, I came home with bug bites. I showed them to a friend and she immediately said they looked like bedbugs bites. I called the manager and he was very responsive, telling me he would order a pest control inspection of the room and call me back. He called me back a few days later saying they had indeed found bedbugs in our mattress. He was terribly apologetic and refunded our stay, but I am so grossed out I will never stay there again.

So glad I found this beautiful place to stay when our flight got canceled and we had to wait until next day to leave Eugene, OR. Was able to book two rooms, including an accessible one, for 4 of us on very short notice. It was a very welcoming, convenient and relaxing place to stay overnight. The restaurant onsite, Sweetwaters on the River, was fantastic, and our server Brittany was the best and took care of us, even in our frazzled state. Would definitely stay here again!
