I've been coming to Tortuga for 15 years. It's a lovely resort. Rather than a big building, it's several, I believe 7, 2 story buildings with just a few units in each. There's a nice pool and clubhouse in the center. Each unit has a good size living room, a dining room, a well stocked kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths plus a big screened patio. Furnishings are pretty and the units are well maintained. The property is separated from the beach by some vegetation, for privacy. There's an activity program for the kids and adults can golf at a nearby course. The only drawback is that only one building has an elevator. If a person needs help with their luggage they can request it when checking in. Staff are friendly. Lots to do on Sanibel, in addition to shelling and relaxing on the beach. A perfect place for families, couples or single travelers. (This is not a "party" resort.)

Tortuga has most everything you need. 2 bedroom suites, washer and dryer, 2 lanai's, all the great amenities. The only slightly downside is the stairs. If you have the 3rd floor units, then there are 32 steps up to the room, then the bedrooms and bathrooms are another 14 steps. Keeps you in shape!
