If you think less is more, this is not the hotel for you. But if you think a vacation is about living the high life, the 70-story Trump Ocean Club — the tallest building in Latin America — will leave you on cloud nine. Opened in 2011 in Panama City’s Punta Pacifica waterfront district, the hotel resembles an enormous sail — one made out of steel and glass. Yes, it’s a hip hotel, with modern and minimalist décor, but it also welcomes families with a complimentary supervised kid’s club. The stunning 13th floor pool deck has six pools, private cabanas and alfresco dining. One could easily spend an afternoon lounging here, looking out over the Pacific. When you need a break from the sun, it’s just a quick and inexpensive taxi ride over to the city’s charming historic district, Casco Viejo.

Went to have cocktails at the end of a busy day. What a pleasant way to start the evening! Got there at 5pm, happy hour starts and prices are great for a 66 floor view. $8 for 2 cocktails, $10 for 6 local beers. The temperature in early November is high 70’s low 80’s. Some rain earlier, but not much humidity. Watching sunset in this open air bar looking over an infinity pool was wonderful. Casino at the first floor if you care to partake. Great start to the evening!

The pool is great and the view is amazing during sunset. Rooms look a bit old and in need of a renovation.
Some of the staff at the reception couldn’t really speak English and that’s kind of a must at a 5 star hotel.
