I booked a stayed here with my Mom last spring, and it was a tropical dream. I communicated in advance, via email and phone, and arranged for a transfer to and from the airport. We had a pleasant ride from a friendly staff member. My Mom, being fully fluent in French, engaged the driver in conversation. Since I’m about 9.5% fluent (lol!) in French, I didn’t exactly understand what was being said, so I put my energy into taking in the beautiful views from island.
The hotel was very “island” appropriate, meaning that it was not stuffy, giving the appropriate ambiance for a relaxing island stay. The owner of the hotel was very sweet and friendly. The lobby has an open layout. There’s a garden (with turtles frolicking about, lol), an open outdoors eating area, and a pool area where you could spend the whole day luxuriating around. The rooms were standard. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc is available, and was very delicious.
We trekked into town, which was a quick walk down a VERY steep hill (The walk up and down was quick, but actually felt like forever, because it was a little nerve-rattling between trying not to risk accidentally rolling down, and looking out for cars, so that you don’t get hit...Which is more important? Focusing on not rolling down, or looking out for cars? LOL!! On the plus side, the walk up the hill provided good cardio and toning exercises for your thighs!! By the time you check-out, you’ll be ready for bikini season!!).
The hotel provided a very relaxing stay, with great views of the sea, mountains, and skyline. I strongly recommend this hotel. When I make my way back to this island, this will be my place of choice.

St. Barth's is both a 'see-and-be-seen' kind of place and beautiful relaxing elegant tropical location. For the latter, the Tropical is an ideal base. Walking distance to Nikki Beach for Euro-busy moods, or just stay poolside and enjoy. Attentive service with no pushiness (the same not so true for most shops nearby). Well worth effort and money!
