Overview

Across Gulf Drive from the beach, it has its own private access to the sands. The accommodations nestle into a gorgeously landscaped property with a large swimming pool and deck area. Most of the units sleep four, plus a few that sleep up to six for family convenience. The kitchens contain all the facilities minus a standard oven. Tropical designer touches such as wooden floors, granite counter tops, and stylish furnishings add a luxury quality, but their off-the-beach location keeps them affordable.

We had travelled all day from the UK and arrived after 5pm, when Reception closes, so we received a code via email to access our room keys from the safe outside Reception. It felt strange arriving at a hotel in the dark, with no-one to explain everything to you (it would definitely have been preferable to have had someone there in person to greet us.) Anyhow, everything felt a lot better in the morning once we’d had a good night’s sleep.
We ended up really loving the hotel. It’s what us Brits would call quaint! Everything you could possible need during your stay is provided in your room, and you can get beach towels from Reception and beach chairs/ice from besides the pool. It felt very relaxed and laid back (as did the whole island!)
The boys enjoyed playing in the hotel pool, and it was never busy in there. The hotel is across a busy road to a stunning beach. As other’s have said here, on a bend but we either walked up the road a bit to cross, or people stopped for us (something that wouldn’t happen in the UK so we were pleasantly surprised!). The trolley bus stop, to get to other parts of the island, is very close by.
We had lovely meals at Wicked Cantina on our first night, and at the Sandbar on our second night. We had breakfasts at Rod and Reel (after watching the gorgeous sunrise at Bean Point/on the pier) and Ginny’s and Jane E’s.
The hotel kindly gave me a gift voucher as we were celebrating my big birthday, which could be used in their shop.
We got a great deal with Avios points (through BA). I would definitely stay at the Tropic Isle again for a few days rest before or after Disney.

This was our 2nd stay at Tropic Isle. It is conveniently located across a 2 lane street from the beach on the Cortez Rd end of Anna Maria Island. The pool is located in the center of the rental units, and has beautiful tropical landscaping around it. It is not a large place, so the pool is never crowded. The units are clean and well sized for a couple, with a separate bedroom and living room. There is a fenced patio with table and chairs on the pool side, and also a door out of the bedroom to the off street parking. Many good restaurants in the area. Peaceful and beautiful place to stay.
