Social distancing has taught us many lessons, one of them being that we can entertain ourselves and our kids in ways we never considered. That’s why we’ve decided to share a new activity for kids and families to enjoy together each day.

April 27: New Jersey in the House!

Visit New Jersey has launched New Jersey in the House!, a digital hub with a range of virtual experiences, in addition to downloadable backgrounds for video meetings, livestream webcams, games and even the ultimate New Jersey playlist.

April 26: Scholastic Learn at Home

Scholastic Learn at Home brings the world of books to life for every age. Each weekday (Monday through Friday), you’ll find a set of projects divided by age group, including reading, videos, and other activities.

April 25: Hogwarts is Here

Virtual Hogwarts has arrived! When you “enroll” at Hogwarts is Here, you can take some of your favorite classes (at your own pace)—including charms, defense against the dark arts, and even transfiguration! You can also join a club, like drama, or even play quidditch!

April 24: Virtual Visit to Colonial Williamsburg

Enjoy a virtual visit to Colonial Williamsburg, which is offering activities, recipes and more for both parents and kids.

April 23: Dance Class with the Rockettes

Love the Radio City Rockettes? You can be one of them! Every Thursday at noon, a Rockette leads a free dance class on The Rockettes’ Instagram page.

April 22: LEGOLAND Building Challenge

LEGOLAND California Resort has launched a new website filled with instructional videos and activities for kids and parents. Every Wednesday, the resort will announce a new theme with an instructional “how to build” video hosted by a Master Model Builder.

April 21: Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems

Mo Willems, creator of the Pigeon Series of children’s books, is offering drawing classes via the Kennedy Center’s website. At the end of the 15-class series, students can download a special graduation gift. Be sure to tag your illustrations with #MoLunchDoodles on social media.

April 20: Create Your Own Word Search

Create printable word searches, crossword puzzles, bingo cards, and worksheets on WordMint, then challenge your family to one of the activities. You can even sweeten the deal by offering a small prize to the person with the most correct answers in each activity sheet.

April 19: Swimming in Orlando

Missing the water parks and pools in Orlando? You can virtually experience them! Virtually float down the winding, lazy river at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. Explore downtown Orlando’s Lake Eola Park from a giant swan-shaped boat. Or take a virtual action river experience with high tides and gushing geyers at Aquatica’s Roa’s Rapids.

April 18: Virtual Tour of Orlando

Ride the tallest roller coaster, go ziplining over alligators, or stand on Main Street in front of Cinderella’s Castle. The Orlando Virtual Tour takes viewers through 85 experiences in Orlando, from theme parks and hotels to dining and shopping hot spots, all with a 360-degree perspective.

April 17: Vetteacademy

The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is offering a new virtual experience called Vetteacademy. Geared at school-aged kids, it offers curious watchers a chance to explore various generations of Corvettes, virtually experience the infamous 2014 sinkhole, and learn the basics of automobile maintenance, such as fixing tires.

April 16: The Disney Family Singalong

If anything is going to lift our spirts in these dark times, it’s a Disney Family Singalong! Tonight at 8 p.m. EST, ABC will air a celebrity-led singalong featuring Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Elle Fanning, Josh Groban, Tori Kelly and other talented performers. April 15: Virtual Tour of the Faroe Islands

Starting today, you can virtually visit the Faroe Islands, located between Iceland and Norway. Hour-long tours are available at 9 a.m. and noon daily and—get this—you can take turns with other viewers to control how you explore the otherworldly destination. Use your computer or phone keypad to turn, walk, run and even jump, just like a video game! Viewers can have the controller for one minute at a time. Virtual tours will be offered through April 25.

April 14: Make a Towel Animal with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line

All you need is a hand towel, wash cloth and this quick-and-easy video demonstration to make your own elephant towel animal! Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is offering more family-friendly entertainment on its Facebook and Instagram pages.

April 13: My Make Studio Cupcake Decorating Kit

My Make Studio is selling cupcake decorating kits, including an adorable animal-themed kit. The bakery will send you all of the frosting, fondant, and tools needed to decorate the cupcakes, with instructions available on YouTube. They also provide cupcake mix, including gluten-free options.

April 12: Holidog’s Digital FunTown

Holiday World Theme Park and Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, is offering ways to bring the theme park to your home with Holidog’s Digital FunTown page. Holidog, the theme park’s mascot, is providing kiddos with interactive videos, printable worksheets and content for kids of all ages. Kids will love the workout, magic and cooking videos, and there’s even a Holiday World Podcast.

April 11: Learn a Language with Duolingo

Hola! Bonjour! Ciao! Want to learn a new language? Duolingo is a free, language learning app that allows visitors to earn points, race against the clock and level up as they learn. Numerous languages are available on the app.

April 10: Storyline Online

Storyline Online is offering children’s books read by famous celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Betty White, Sarah Silverman and Allison Janney. New books and readings are continually being added, too!

April 9: Virtual Adventures for Kids with Austin Adventures

Austin Adventures is offering a virtual visit to Zoo Montana, where kids will meet four animals who call the zoo home. Other upcoming Virtual Adventures for Kids—which will take place through May—include Costa Rica (April 16) and Peru (April 30).

April 8: Cosmic Kids Yoga

For today’s gym class, get the kids moving with Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube. Designed for kids aged 3 and up, teacher Jaime Armor promises to make yoga and mindfulness fun for kids. (And with her upbeat personality and themed, colorful video backgrounds for each class, we can see how she does it.)

April 7: The Martha’s Vineyard Film Fest – A Movie A Day

Did you know The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival has a library of films for kids? While schools are closed and kids are home, MVFF is releasing a new movie each day, plus worksheets, crafts and other activities to complement each film.

April 6: Dav Pilkey at Home

Enjoy read-alongs and drawing classes with the creator of Dog Man and Captain Underpants!

April 5: Harry Potter at Home 

Have kids who love Harry Potter? Check out Harry Potter at Home, which is offering craft videos, quizzes, puzzles, articles, and more to enjoy until you can get back to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios!

April 4: At-Home Activities with the Crayola Experience 

The Crayola Experience is offering at-home activities for kids, available on its website and Facebook page. You can download free step-by-step crafting instructions, coloring pages, games, apps, and colorful science experiments using household items. Today’s featured craft is Scribble Scrubbie Designs.

April 3: Free Online Photography Classes with Nikon

Have a budding photographer in the family? Sign them up for Nikon’s online photography classes, which are free throughout the month of April. (Each class is normally priced between $15 and $50). There are 10 classes in total.

April 2: Goodnight with Dolly

One of the best free book resources online, Dolly Parton’s sweet new reading series, “Goodnight with Dolly,” begins at 7 p.m. ET tonight (4 p.m. PT). She’ll be reading books from The Imagination Library, her book program that provides children with free books. First up? The Little Engine That Could. Weekly readings will follow for the next 10 weeks, and will be streamed on Facebook.

April 1: Decorah Eagle Cam Live Feed

Tune into the 24-hour Decorah Eagle Cam in Decorah, Iowa, where one of the mother eagles is expected to hatch three eaglets this week! You can sign up for alerts so you’ll know when the babies are being born. For more adorable animals, check out these virtual safaris.
