For a pure taste of Bahamia on trendy, spendy Harbour Island, here’s a down-to-earth spot close enough to the beach but far enough away not to burn up your cash. And it stays open year-round, one of the few on the island. Its 16 rooms and one three-bedroom cottage are comfortable and tropically inclined, if a little dated and worn at the edges. The cottage has a kitchen and whirlpool tub, and some of the rooms have kitchenettes or refrigerators.
Overgrown by lush vegetation, the property also holds a small spa. Owned by a Bahamian family, it feels close-knit and a little disheveled, as most families do. Ma Ruby runs her eponymous from-scratch restaurant, colorful, hung with baseball caps, and known for its cheeseburgers.

I arrived at Tingum Village in a state of shock. It was my first overseas solo travel and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon to find my Airbnb accomodation double booked . I knew 1 person on the Island the wedding photographer after being at a wedding in Nassau. She booked me into Tingum . Junita was so welcoming, kind and calm and understood I was not functioning very well .I was made to feel at home straight away . The accomodation is spacious and has a lovely feel to it, I love the decor, bed very comfortable and private patio. You are surrounded by palm trees and hammocks. Air con very gd too. The shower pressure is slow but good enough for a hot shower. It was great having a restaurant as well. I loved meeting Junita's family who were always there for a chat or to help, they kindly helped me out with a couple of golf cart rides, but I also had complete privacy as well. As a solo woman travelling I felt safe staying there. Tingum Village has a rich history of hospitality and it continues to do this. If you are looking to stay in a welcoming ,comfortable and relaxed Island home in beautiful surroundings this will be perfect for you. I also loved the roosters and hens ,yes heard them, but all part of the rich experience of being on the Island. Tingum is a short walk to the beach where you can use the sun beds shared with Valentines. Harbour Island is very cute . I visited in the low season so missed the shops but loved the relaxed vibe.
Thank you so much Junita for a perfect few days.

Last minute trip had us staying for just 1 night. Property is a bit tired but generally speaking all was acceptable. Special note ...on positive side, the staff is incredible. Extremely attentive and very concerned with guest experience. Chef “ Uncle Mike” is no exception. He and Juanita could not have been more accommodating. Uncle Mike made my wife the “ Cheeseburger” in Paradise long after we expected to kitchen would be closed. (The burger rocked). thank you Uncle Mike thank you Tingum Staff!!!
