I wish I could give 5 stars to Tamarack Beach Resort, but it just didn't quite get there for me. The staff is amazing - really helpful and friendly. The property is immaculately maintained, and as clean as can be. The rooms are spotless. The parking situation is convenient and secure. We loved the patio, our balcony, and the rec room. The pool was sparkling and very inviting. BUT, the furniture was a little dated and old. Our bed was lumpy and not firm. We had a couple of not-great nights of sleep. It was a shame, because it was otherwise a very well-maintained, mid-century (read: older) hotel.

On the good side, the location was amazing. We didn't have an ocean-view room, but would definitely try to get one next time, if one was available. There is an adjacent restaurant, which unfortunately is not open for breakfast. (The breakfast served in the rec room is a very basic buffet. No scrambled eggs, for example.) Other restaurants and a Starbucks are an easy walk, as is the incredible beach, with multiple levels of walking paths (street level sidewalk, lower level boardwalk, or right on the sand).

Hopefully the resort will upgrade the furnishings sooner than later. We would still return, regardless.

We were in room 214 (RCI trade), awesome view, beautiful unit. This unit has everything you need other than toiletries (only a few bars of soap were provided). A little noisy because of the street out front, but the view was so worth that. Large bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and pillows, and a midweek cleaning. They do have a few beach items to borrow, so be sure to ask before you rent/buy. Staff is super friendly. Kind of a late check in (5:00). If you dine at the restaurant next door and ask, you will receive a discount.
