This historic inn in the heart of Talkeetna is the perfect place to experience the best of small-town Alaska. It offers a variety of rooms and cabins, but families will want to book the Trapper John’s Cabin, which can sleep up to four on two queen beds. Decorated with relics from trappers and miners of a bygone era, the spacious cabin includes a full kitchen, fireplace, and an outdoor outhouse (but don’t worry, there’s also a new modern bathroom inside). Other amenities include free Wi-Fi and a well-stocked game room in the main building. There are several outstanding restaurants in downtown Talkeetna, but you’ll want to stick with the Roadhouse for breakfast. Its sourdough pancakes are legendary.
Located on Talkeetna’s main street, the Roadhouse is within walking distance of most shops and attractions, including Nagley’s Store, a local favorite that’s been operating as a general store since 1921. In fact, the entire downtown area has been listed as a National Historic Site. It’s a great place to explore and a fun way to learn about the history of Alaska. Kids will love the Talkeetna Historical Museum, which is filled with artifacts about Denali, the Gold Rush and mountain climbing. Talkeetna is a base of operations for many tour operators, so you have easy access to glacier flights, zip-lining, river rafting and fishing charters. With all it has to offer for families, Talkeetna should be a vacation destination whether you’re continuing on to Denali National Park or not. The history, charm and modern amenities of the Talkeetna Roadhouse make it the ideal place to stay during your time there.

this family seating style restaurant is one of my favorites... the servers are so fun and talkative. I went alone but never felt lonely because you sit at any available chair.. and my server made me feel very welcome.... I have eaten there about 3 or 4 times love their daily lunch specials and the breakfast and bakery treats are wonderful.. they rent rooms there also so the place is real homey .....

We stayed in the little cabin in the back and had a great weekend in Talkeetna. Went out for Talkeetna beer fest and had an amazing weekend in Talkeetna. Highly recommend staying at the Roadhouse while in Talkeetna.
