Too many cottage resorts consist of rundown knotty-pine cabins that haven’t seen an update in years-not so this exceptional Lake Sunapee cottage community that has been lovingly renovated by its owners to create a comfortable and relaxing vacation getaway. The cottages are large and roomy, with cathedral ceilings and gas-fired wood stoves creating a warm and welcoming environment. Each cottage can sleep five, with a double bed downstairs and a loft with three twins for the kids upstairs.
The owners have clearly sweated over the details-from the fluffy towels and boutique bath products in the bathrooms to the rocking chairs on the porches and cutesy antique children’s toys scattered around the units. The cottages are located just across the street from the lake, and down the street from Dewey Beach, where free kayak, canoe, and sailboat rentals are available. In the winter, it also offers discounted lift tickets for nearby Mount Sunapee. While the cottages don’t include kitchens, they do have a microwave and toaster oven, as well as grills outside.
