Overview

In this charming, historic town, you are going to find loads of these types of buildings with character, stories, and most importantly, hospitality. The Sugarloaf Mountain Motel & Market is no different. Built in the 1800s as a boarding house for miners, modern day accommodations now offer guests’ room lodging with original brick walls and cast iron shutters as a relic of yesteryear. There is an onsite market with fresh brewed coffee for guests starting at 6 a.m. and all rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. But, it’s the market at the bottom of the building that might be the most attractive element for families. There are cold and hot drinks, snacks, last minute items you might have forgotten, and alcohol for adults. However, everyone who researches this hotel, or stays at this hotel, will note that it is the owners, and how they make guests feel, that directly relate to its consistent popularity and highly reviewed status. The owners truly go out of their way to make you have an incredible stay and are very accommodating.

We only stayed for one night but it was clean, comfortable, and in a great location too. Handy little shop next door with free coffee, which was a nice touch. If I came back to Virginia City I would stay here again.

If you are going to stay in Virginia City, Sugarloaf is a must! Rooms are small. but very clean and comfortable. The owners are amazing, very helpful with restaurants and things to see and do info. And so very friendly and welcoming. Walking distance to main street. Fresh coffee served at 7am , and they offer a small convenience store in the office.
