Stoney Creek Inn is home to one of Iowa’s only year-round indoor/outdoor heated pools. The pool is a magnet for children staying at the hotel. Kids can swim through to the heated, outside section and back in to the indoor section for hours on end. A game room with video games, darts, shuffle board and a large television is also at the hotel. Stoney Creek’s location puts guests near family-friendly attractions, like Des Moines’ Blank Park Zoo, downtown restaurants and local concert venues. The location is perfect for families who want a small-town feel with big-city amenities. Stoney Creek offers 165 rooms and suites. Rooms come in a few different sizes with wood furnishings, refrigerators and microwaves. Suites offer additional space, log cabin themed decors with stone fireplaces, kitchenettes and sleeper sofas for kids. Cottage suites are the roomiest accommodations with sitting areas and full kitchens. Stoney Creek also serves a daily hot breakfast for guests. Children under age 18 stay for free with parents. An airport shuttle is also available.

Good overall

Room was clean but there was a weak spot in the bathroom floor. Chlorine was a bit strong in the hot tub. Fitness room was a good size and had some nice equipment but the all-in-one equipment is in need of repair or replacement. Breakfast was good. The hotel was clean. Friendly staff.

Very comfortable and reasonably priced lodge style hotel

Stayed here due to proximity to Iowa State Fair and was impressed by comfortable rooms and attractive indoor/outdoor pool.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful and breakfast was fine - the usual you get in motels but otherwise this has the feel of a lodge rather than motel.
There’s a pizzeria in the hotel and reception will happily give you take away menus for other restaurants to order from your room phone and have delivered to your door. We had good Thai food delivered.
I’d happily stay again.
