If carbon-free travel, central location and great shopping are high on your amenities for hotels, this is the place for your family. With nearly 400 rooms and suites, the Steigenberger offers a pool, spa and rooms specifically designed for those with various allergies. Teens will love the free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Three restaurants and a lounge are at the hotel. A major shopping district, called the Kurfuerstendamm, locally known as the Ku’damm, is just two blocks away. The zoo and aquarium are about 15 minutes away on foot. Also, the U-bahn station will get you everywhere else your family wants to go, and it is just about 10 minutes away.

I had booked a superior room at the Steigenberger Hotel about a month prior to my stay. I turned up, got my key to room 669 (which was about a mile away from the lifts). I entered the room which was absolutely tiny with a single bed, furious, I went back down to reception to discuss this with the receptionist saying “it’s all we have at the moment, sorry” CHILE I booked this a month ago, give me what I paid for! I did not pay for a single room with a single bed, I paid for a superior with a double bed! The cheek! Eventually another staff member was able to find me what I paid for, magically. For the first night I had no WiFi, when discussed this with male receptionist he denied owning a phone or how to use “technology” which was weird since he was stood typing away on a keyboard ??? The following day I was given a WiFi connector in my room. These were my only issues while staying there, for the price I paid I was expecting better from the staff, I didn’t even get a “thank you for staying” when I was leaving. The hotel itself is lovely, the spa was great, breakfast buffet was good, just them 3 staff members wound me up and I’d suggest adequate training for them.
I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with them? Giving the hotel a three star rating for the facilities and the room NOT for the staff.

Upon arrival/check-in I asked the Staff if I could practice my German and they were happy to oblige. Check-in went smoothly and quickly. The hotel is very clean, and quite large, with a restaurant, bar, and some shops all part of the hotel. Our room was a decent size, with comfortable beds (one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in), and the A/C worked well. The room decor was certainly that of a business hotel, but also modern and comfortable. Location is excellent - near many, many restaurants, shopping, tourist attractions, transportation (metro, train, bus), etc. BEST part - they give you a free transportation card, which works on the metro/train/bus. This was very handy and I used it like crazy. It was valid my entire stay. Not sure up to how many days they will give you a valid card; mine was for four days. The hotel also held my luggage on the last day for several hours after I had checked-out. This is always so helpful when you have some time to kill before a flight and you don't want to haul your luggage all over the city.
Breakfast was excellent. Large selection and tasty.
I didn't check out the spa/pool area, though it did look quite nice.
Overall a very pleasant stay. I really enjoyed it.
