We have had a cabin in Solon for 25+yrs and have always been met with kindness at the St Croix hotel but it has changed owners and they are all about greed now. We use the pool/jacuzzi and shower for a $7 fee which we feel is fair. We came into to enjoy the facilities because the pump at our cabin broke and we had no running water. The pool and jacuzzi was not working (this was a tue) and so we asked if we could at least still take a quick shower since we had no water. The lady at the desk made us pay full price! $14 for a 5 min shower? That is greed. We didn't get to play in the pool or relax in the jacuzzi which is usually included in that $7 per person fee. It was a terrible way to treat guests and especially a local with a cabin. Put a terrible taste in our mouths about the whole place now.

If you want to book rooms in advance for an event, DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!!! They were utterly horrible to work with from start to finish. We booked 15 rooms in August for an event in mid-February. Around Thanksgiving we received a call from the owner demanding payment. She seemed annoyed that we booked rooms over some snowmobile customers; mind you, it hadn't snowed yet. We informed her that invitations for the event had not been sent out yet and that's why nobody has booked a room. However we gave her a credit card to hold the rooms anyway, no big deal. So when our guests attempted to book rooms later, she informed them that the hotel was sold out for that day. When we got wind of this we called to clarify, we found out that we had sold out the hotel. We explained that the two of us would not be staying simultaneously in 15 rooms and it was ok to let any of our guests that specified our event to take a room. Later we received more reports that the hotel was full so we inquired again. She explained that the rooms were reserved in our name, not the event name. Now the event name is the same as our name except for the word 'wedding.' We informed her we were giving permission for guests to take our rooms under our name or the wedding name. We would have to explain this to her and her staff a half dozen more times before the event. To be sure these rooms were supposed to be paid by our guests, we simply wanted to guarantee there would be rooms available on this date; we made this crystal clear when we reserved these rooms. We even offered to cover any rooms that didn't get taken to make sure she got paid for a full hotel. However the owner decided to refuse payment from any of our guests, stating we had already paid for the rooms even though she hadn't charged our card yet. She basically didn't want to have to run multiple credit cards. She was only interested in doing what was easiest for her. Or she was angry that we brought all this business to her, I don't really know because this behavior makes so little sense. This level of incompetence was amazing. I have never had a more difficult time booking a hotel in my entire life!
