We have stayed at this hotel for years, ever since it first opened. We have had four daughters as students at a nearby university, so have visited countless times and this was our go-to hotel of choice.
But no more.
On our last stay this weekend, we checked in at around 9 pm after a long day driving and being on campus. Our room seemed typical but turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. I saw one small bug on the wall of the bathroom, but figured this is the south and bugs are common. In the night I got up to use the bathroom and there were two more bugs...cockroaches. It was 2 am, I was exhausted and decided to not wake my daughter to change rooms. In the morning I found another cockroach on the mirror and another in the bathroom. And there were dead bugs in the overhead light casings.
We got out of the there as fast as we could. I waited by the front desk (I was NOT going to eat their breakfast...if the rooms have cockroaches, you know the kitchen does!) to discuss the room situation with them but no one came. I waited a bit but we had to get to the campus, so we left. I am trying to contact the hotel but no response. I agree with other reviewers that Marriott corporate needs to get to the property and see what is going on.
They have lost a customer in us. We will not return.

My first ever 2 points for a Marriott property (never given anything less than a 4). Generally, some minor things -- clean towels on floor still there, not replaced, beds not getting made, glasses replaced, phone not working, no waste basket -- topped off by a non-responsive manager. Calls to front desk went unanswered. Calls requesting to speak with day manager - always busy in a meeting. When checking out, the nice young man advised because he was new, he did not have access to split the bill and no one was available to assist him.
We did get a terrific response from the excellent night manager this past Thursday (10/24) and the young lady who checked us in on Monday (10/21) was nice.
Room was okay for cleanliness but not over-the-top. Food edible, but we were told only 6 Chobani yogurts could be put out because it is too expensive; there was another brand available though.
Beds and pillows were very comfortable.
I feel something may be going on at this location. Marriott needs to take a serious look at this property if it wants to keep business returning.
