We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the location and beautiful ocean views offered by the Spindrift Inn. However, we were very disappointed with our room (despite the great view). The decor is dated and somewhat shabby with heavy, faded drapery at the head of the bed as well as faded upholstery on the chairs. The mattress was one of the most uncomfortable ones that my husband and I had ever tried to sleep on, hard and lumpy; and the sheets were nappy.

Maintenance in our room was haphazard with wonky wall lights, an exposed sprinkler head, sloppily installed vent over shower (that didn't appear to work), and patchy paint repairs.

In addition, we arrived back to our room around 2 pm, after having been gone for several hours and were upset to find that our room had not yet been made up.

I'm sorry to not be able to give Spindrift Inn a better review. I liked the people, location, and view. Hopefully they'll do some renovations and we can visit again.

We stay here every year because the location is perfect. It's a short walk to Monterrey Aquarium and an easy nice stroll along a footpath to Fishermans Wharf or to 17 mile drive. Don't miss the Tuesday farmers market near the town square.

Spindrift has very friendly, cheerful and professional staff. Seaview rooms are the best option, on the top floor. You can sleep with the sound of the surf below your window.

The morning in-room breakfast provides big pots of excellent coffee and continental style breakfast. And an afternoon happy hour with local wine and cheese tasting. There's a roof top deck for picnics and sun.

If you are in need of a room before 4pm, you may need to use one of the bigger hotels. At the Spindrift, there’s no check in available until after 4pm.

Room tip- Cannery Row can get noisy on the weekends with loud custom cars and motorcycles, so get a sea view room, better in the middle, not on a corner
