Overview

Once an art deco building from the 1920s is today a luxurious hotel sitting amid quintessential Charleston-excitement. Choose between a king or double-queen rooms — or spacious suites — all with marble bathrooms (with posh amenities like heated towel racks), a mini-fridge, flat-screens, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Love coffee? Check out the room’s Nespresso coffee machine with the foil-wrapped pods in jewel colors. Upgrade to a city view or a balcony. Suites also come with an evening turndown and your own butler.
A complimentary breakfast tempts each morning and guests are encouraged to use the properties’ loaner bikes. You won’t find onsite dining for lunch or dinner, but local restaurants will deliver, and the hotel’s jazz bar is excellent. The property doesn’t have a pool, but you’re central to so much activity in Charleston, you might not care.
The Spectator Hotel is 0.3-miles to the Waterfront Park, 358-feet to the Charleston City Market, 12-miles to family-friendly Folly Beach, 1-mile to the South Carolina Aquarium, 1.1-mile to The Children’s Museum of the Low country, 1-mile to Fort Sumter Tours (where Civil War’s first shots were fired), 5.8-miles to Wild Blue Ropes Adventure Park.

This was our second visit to The Spectator. Since our last visit a year ago there have been several new hotels in the Charleston market. After researching all of these, we decided to return to the Spectator. It's a special property that has a warm and cozy feel. The rooms are spacious and well stocked. The bonus of having your own Butler for each room brings out the Southern hospitality. This hotel is a real value and should be your primary hotel in Charleston.

Located in the heart of Charleston, we walked everywhere. The hotel staff is professional and kind. The rooms are beautiful and stocked with drinks and snacks for guests to enjoy. The thoughtful extras from delicious breakfasts delivered and set up bedside each morning (including a carafe of steaming coffee) to liquor served in mini chocolate cups at the end of the day made us feel like royalty. The lounge is a sophisticated speakeasy and the drinks were divine. 6 couples all loved our stay!
