The family-owned and operated South Beach Resort features a standard hotel building, plus surrounding cottages that are perfect for families. Open year-round, this resort hotel is located in Marblehead on Lake Erie and is less than 30 minutes to Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Families will love all the outdoor recreation activities like tennis, shuffleboard, volleyball and bonfires, not to mention all the water fun at the multiple outdoor pools, small splash pad, and the small beach directly on Lake Erie. This is an ideal spot for families on a Lake Erie Shores vacation.

Families have a variety of accommodations to choose from at South Beach Resort Hotel. Guestrooms, large suites and multi-bedroom cottages are available on the property. Cribs and rollaway beds are both available for a nightly fee. While none of the rooms feature a DVD player, one can be requested.

Suites
The large suites feature a king bed in a separate bedroom and two, queen-size sleeper sofas in a living room area. There is a mini-fridge, microwave, table for four and two televisions in each room. Families will find a bathtub in the bathroom and a Jacuzzi tub in the corner of the living room area. The spacious suites sleep six and are ideal for families of five or more.

Deluxe Guestrooms
These guestrooms feature great Lake Erie and pool views from the outdoor balcony or patio. A king or two queen beds and a Jacuzzi tub in the corner are available in these deluxe rooms, along with a sleeper sofa. No microwave or mini-fridge are featured in these rooms, but they can be requested.

Standard Guestrooms
The standard guestrooms feature two queen beds but no Jacuzzi tub or balcony. A microwave and mini-fridge can be requested for these rooms, as they do not come standard.

Cottages
Twenty various sized cottages surround the property. The cottages range from two to eight bedrooms and can sleep anywhere from four to 14 people. They feature multiple bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens, along with a parking area next to the cottage. Some of the cottages also include a porch or patio area that overlooks the pools and Lake Erie. The cottages are ideal rentals for families and guests are welcome to use all of the same hotel facilities as hotel guests.

Outdoor Pools
Kids will love the multiple outdoor pool options at this resort. One medium-size pool with a depth of about 3 to 5 feet is situated next to a separate kiddie pool. The kiddie pool offers zero-entry and a depth between 1 and 3 feet.

There is a small splash pad and water buckets dropping water on the kiddie pool, as well. Lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas surround this pool area and a pirate ship next to the pool is great for climbing, too.

A second, larger pool is located closer to the lake. This pool is mostly for adults; however, well-behaved children are welcome. This pool has a depth of 3 to 5 feet and there is a hot tub attached. More lounge chairs surround this pool deck. There are no lifeguards at either pool, but pool towels are provided.

Beach
A small beach overlooking Lake Erie can be found below the pool area. Boat slips are available to rent and water sports rentals can be found here, too. Guests are welcome to swim in the lake; however, there is no lifeguard.

Outdoor Recreation
Tennis, basketball and volleyball courts and shuffleboard can be found throughout the large property, and equipment is available at the front desk. Several playground areas with swings, slides and even a pirate ship are fun for kids to climb and play. A bonfire is lit each night for guests to enjoy, too, and grills can also be found on the large lawn area.

Water Rentals
Stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and jet skis are available to rent from an outside company at the hotel's beach area.

Breakfast
A complimentary continental breakfast is available in the breakfast room just off the lobby from 8 to 10 a.m. Cereal, yogurt and pastries are featured at breakfast and guests can sit at any of the indoor tables or outside in the courtyard area, where tables with umbrellas can be found. Complimentary coffee and tea are available in the lobby all day.

Marblehead, Ohio is located about 20 minutes from Sandusky, an hour to Toledo Ohio, three hours to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and about an hour and 15 minutes to Cleveland Airport.

Getting Around
Families can easily walk to the pools and lake at this hotel, but a vehicle is needed to venture off the hotel property. The hotel is 15 to 20 minutes to ferries to Put-In-Bay and Kelleys Island.
