I've stayed at the Sofitel four times in the last two months and every time I've had a great experience. The staff at the hotel can't be any nicer and I would rate this hotel my favorite in Philadelphia.

Hotel has an excellent location a few short blocks from Rittenhouse Square. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. We were assigned a large corner room which was more than spacious and very quiet.
The furnishings are tired; the hotel seems to be undergoing a refreshing, a few rooms at a time; there were several on our floor (9) in that phase and the fumes/smell from paint and varnish was very strong in that area.
Housekeeping is not a strong suit; surfaces and the floor were dusty. Clothing left behind by a previous guest were in the closet. We were provided with 2 bottles of water in our room and these were never replenished after first night of our 3 night stay; same story for turndown and pillow chocolates.
Free Internet worked well, but required a new sign in daily. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very good.
Sofitel is positioned as 4+ star accommodation; other than the housekeeping lapses they deserve a 4, but no higher.
