I lovelovelove staying at the Sofitel in Manhattan. You can't beat the location, between 5th and 6th avenues, in the center of all the see-do-eat in Midtown (including the theater district), but just far enough away from the hubbub of Times Square to keep you sane. The rooms are nicely appointed, the lobby is a mini art gallery, Gaby lounge and restaurant are wonderful--far above your usual hotel offerings. And the level of customer care and service will keep you coming back. That's how it's been for me for more than ten years. I really like knowing in advance where I'll be staying when I visit NYC!

Birthday weekend for our grandchild, who was made to feel so special by the restaurant staff .
We appreciated the attention to detail and effort made to accomodate our early arrival and
need for transportation. Every staff member from the waiters to the front desk to the doormen are superbly trained and concerned for their guests. (And the beds and pillows are the best!) Not cheap but worth it.
