Overview

The Smoke Hole Caverns & Log Cabin Resort offers families 20 cabins equipped with full kitchens, multiple beds, bathrooms and free Wi-Fi. Family Cabins can sleep up to six guests with two queen beds and two twin beds, plus two bathrooms. There are other individual cabins geared toward families that can sleep small and large families, the biggest of which can sleep 20.

Onsite fun can be had hiking the grounds, fishing in the local waters, horseback riding at nearby stables and more. Kids will especially like mining for gemstones and fossils at the Moonshine Mining Company, which is open seasonally between April 1 and October 31. Smoke Hole Caverns are also on the same property and families can explore them together for a unique experience.

There is no onsite dining at the resort.

family log cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for cooking, sleeping and bathing. staff was very accommodating during our weekend stay. Josh, the outfitter was very kind and attentive. would recommend as a family getaway. with the Potomac river in the back yard, you can't help but love the ease of fishing. the property also has a pay-by-the-pound pond well stocked with trout, guaranteed catch, would be great for kids. we caught trout and enjoyed it for our first night supper for 6. everything about it was relaxing and fun. would definitely recommend this place. we will go back.

Smokehole Caverns campground

altho this campground is just a few full service sites, it is a lovely setting right by the river. no bathhouse tho - it would have been nice to have one there. several cabins at the location also. wonderful gift shop near by.
