We decided to stay here for a somewhat weekend getaway. I rented the room online and was pleased to find that we were able to check at 1 pm vice the normal time of 3 pm. The room was ok and to be honest I wasn't really sure what to expect as the pictures online showed two different types of rooms. It seemed as if they had some from updated junior suites and some from older junior suites. Needless to say, I got an older style as you can see in the pictures. Immediately I noticed some cosmetic issues with the room that I am not really sure are consistent with a $300 a night suite. For example, outlet covers were damaged, walls were dirty, shower seals were not in the best shape, not all the furniture looked well maintained (you can see all this in the pictures). At check-in, I was delighted to find that we had access to the club lounge (which is always a major plus) and I think there was an extra fee for that. The lounge provides drinks, seating area, cappacino machine, snacks, and it is where the breakfast is provided. The walls seemed to be sufficiently sound proofed as we didn't hear much when in the suite, even with a major soccer outing happening that weekend. Furthermore, because I have 3 children we always make sure there is a pool and this one was great, no complaints there. The television did have an excellent on demand section with movies that are still in theatres and not available to rent elsewhere yet. We decided to watch the new IT movie once the kids went to bed. We ordered room service as well later in the evening. I want to point out that IT WAS THE BEST ROOM SERVICE I'VE HAD! Great job to the staff, we ordered some goodies and it was on time with the estimated time they gave us. And again, it was amazing... Probably better than some restaurants in the area. The staff in general was great. Even the lounge staff was especially friendly and made conversation with the kids which is always nice. The major negative feedback I have, that I know probably can't be fixed, is that you have to take a separate elevator to get to the parking area (if you opt out of doing valet). For example, I was on the 4th floor so to get to my car I had to take an elevator to the main level then walk about 500 feet to a separate elevator and then you get to the door to the outside parking area. There were no handicap parking areas in the front of the hotel only 2 spots for 15 minute parking for check ins, that wasn't great either.
In summary:
-I rented a junior suite that in my opinion was slightly sub-par for the price. The website has pictures of other suites so they aren't consistent with what you'll actually get.
-Room Service was exceptional
-TV on demand selection was amazing (however slightly pricey at 19.99 to rent a movie for 1 day)
-pool was average
-Staff was great
-Lounge was very good and well stocked

I stayed at the Sheraton Overland Park Convention Center for two nights while in the area for business. Hotel was decent overall, but rooms were not up to the standard that you would expect for the price. Staff was very helpful when there were issues with the first room I checked in to. I would say that overall this hotel’s rooms need refreshed.

On weekends, the hotel usually sets up games on the outdoor patio behind the pool. These games include giant Jenga, corn hole, Connect 4, and others. Also, in the green space between the hotel and the convention center (access is downstairs by the meeting spaces), guests are welcome to bring their own games to play on the grass. For example, Frisbee, hula hoops and Nerf football are welcome. Baseballs, bats and other sporting equipment is not permitted due to the small size of the green space.

Pets
The hotel does allow dogs weighing less than 40 pounds to stay with their families for free.
The Art of Smart Timing
The Sheraton Overland Park stays busy year-round thanks to its close proximity to the Overland Park Convention Center. That being said, the hotel does see lower occupancy during the last two weeks of August, around spring break in March, and from Christmas through the first week of January.
Getting There
The closest airport to the Sheraton Overland Park is the Kansas City International Airport, which is approximately 30 minutes away. The hotel does not provide shuttle service, so it will be necessary to arrange for a taxi, Uber or rental car. A one-way taxi ride from the airport to the hotel is approximately $60.
Getting Around
Because there is no local shuttle service provided by the Sheraton Overland Park, it will be necessary to have a rental car or arrange for taxi or Uber service. The hotel is conveniently located to Overland Park's many attractions as well as its dining and shopping destinations, so travel time does not take long.
For Mom and Dad
Parents able to slip away for some alone time won't have to go far for an intimate night out. If the patio is open during your stay, definitely head outside, where you can enjoy a cocktail from the Op1906 Patio bar. Relax by one of the fire pits, or take in the view from this elevated terrace. If you like, you can enjoy a small plate al fresco, or head back inside for dinner for two at Op1906 Bar and Grille. Afterward, head back to the patio to enjoy a night under the stars and one more cocktail before calling it a night.
