Perfect location near LAX

by Karen P

We found a deal through Priceline, so booked one night at the Sheraton Gateway. The location was a convenient 1/2 mile walk from LAX so we didn't have to wait for a shuttle. When we arrived at the hotel there were only 2 employees working the reception desk and a line of about 10 people. It seemed that a hotel with so many rooms should have more desk workers. After a good 20 minute wait, we got to check into our room. The room had 2 queen beds and was a comfortable size. The outer door frames of both our room and the one next to it were severely dented. Other than that, the room was in good repair and the furnishings were stylish. We had a view of the pool area.

Frustrating Check In, Thin Walls, Odd Guests

by michael n

I'm not quite sure what was going on around this hotel but 90% of the guests seemed like they were going to the Junior Prom. I could hear them in the hallway through the paper thin door. The Sheraton Club was also full of them, not sure how they have the status to get in there.

Check in was very slow and disorganized. While they have a line for Elite members, that one clerk was taken up for nearly 20 minutes by someone who was clearly not Elite and didn't have a credit card. The clerk was trying to deal with having this person pay cash for parking and incidentals. Meanwhile, the other two clerks were still drawing guests from the regular line. Finally one of the other clerks figured out I was still standing around and helped me. Oddly I heard the clerks tell two guests that they'd been upgraded rooms but even as the top of the line Bonvoy member I didn't. Odd.

Other than that the property isn't too bad. Parking is easy ($20), the room was clean and comfortable. Towels were nice. But I won't be back.
