Overview
by Karon Warren
Opened eight years ago, SeaSide is a condominium-style hotel that combines spacious accommodations with daily hotel service and amenities. Located along the beach in North Myrtle Beach, it is within 15 to 20 minutes of Myrtle Beach’s most popular attractions and theaters. Top-quality golf courses and restaurants are right up the street from SeaSide, too. And, while its location is ideal for families visiting Myrtle Beach, many families choose SeaSide for its own offerings: roomy condos and two swimming pools, along with a lazy river. Add in the beach, which is just yards from the hotel, and you have a win-win for family travelers.

In the hotel's 14 one-bedroom units, you'll find a bedroom with two queen beds, a large bathroom with a jetted tub/shower combination, a small kitchen, and a combined dining and living area with a Murphy bed, totaling 646 square feet. There is a 60-square-foot balcony with chairs and a table, too.
Two-Bedroom Condo
SeaSide's 28 two-bedroom units come in three different configurations. The two-bedroom side view unit includes two bedrooms, each with two queen beds, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a combined dining and living area, totaling 892 square feet. The adjacent balcony includes another 51 square feet of space. There are two configurations of the two-bedroom oceanfront units, one covering 969 square feet with a 65-square-foot balcony and the second covering 970 square feet with a 120-square-foot balcony. Both offer the standard amenities of the side view unit.
Three-Bedroom Condo
The 27 three-bedroom units also feature two different configurations. In the three-bedroom ocean view units, you'll find two bedrooms, each with a king bed, a third bedroom with two queen beds, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a combined dining and living area, totaling 1,284 square feet. The balcony adds another 129 square feet to the space. In the three-bedroom oceanfront corner units, there are two bedrooms, each with king beds, a third bedroom with two queen beds, three bathrooms, a kitchen, and a combined dining and living area (with a sofa bed), totaling 1,615 square feet. Outside, the balcony covers 75 square feet.
The hotel does not offer or permit rollaway beds; however, it does have Pack 'N Plays on hand for those with small children. There is no charge for a Pack 'N Plays, but you do need to request one at the time of your reservation.
In the kitchen, guests will find a full-size refrigerator, a stove, a microwave, a coffee maker and a dishwasher. It also is outfitted with some dishes, silverware, glasses, cooking utensils and cookware. However, if you plan to cook often, be sure to bring your favorite cooking utensils, larger skillets and pots, and any specialty bakeware, such as muffin tins, to make sure you have what you need on hand. Likewise, the hotel supplies an initial amount of dishwashing detergent (both for hand washing and the dishwasher), as well as paper towels, but bring extra supplies if you plan to cook a lot.
All units include a washer and dryer, which come with an initial supply of washing detergent. If you plan to wash clothes often during your stay, be sure to bring your own detergent.
In addition, all units include free wireless Internet access.

We came down to North Myrtle Beach and didn’t really have a plan. After looking for some hotels, we were able to stumble across this Seaside. Luckily they had an opening, the two ladies at the front desk were really friendly and helpful. When we got to the room, we were amazed at how beautiful and well kept it was. The price was very reasonable even with it being off-season. They have a lazy river, indoor pool, outdoor pool and two hot tubs. The beach access was perfect. We will definitely be back, and are considering purchasing a condo.
Family Activities
Pools
Families staying at SeaSide can get their fill of water fun at the hotel's two swimming pools, two hot tubs and the lazy river. The outside swimming pool ranges from 3 to 7 feet in depth, while the outside hot tub is 3 feet deep. Just a few steps away, the large indoor swimming pool is 3 feet deep throughout, as is the lazy river (also inside) and the inside hot tub. Floats are provided for the lazy river, although there's not an overwhelming amount. Therefore, when in high demand, guests may have to wait their turn for a float. Children are allowed to use their own ring floats, as well. There are chairs and loungers both inside and out, with the occasional table available. Pool hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Parents will love the inside pool, lazy river and hot tub for several reasons. Not only does it offer a place for kids to swim and play when it's raining outside, it also offers a cooler, shaded retreat when kids need a break from the sun. Also, the entire area is well lit, making it an evening destination following dinner.
Bathrooms are inside the hotel, just beyond the inside swimming pool, and are easy to reach from both the outside and inside pool areas. Also, the hotel does furnish its own pool towels for use in the pool area; however, these towels are not allowed on the beach, so plan to bring your own if venturing to the sand and surf.
Beach
Of course, many families come to Myrtle Beach for the sand and sun of the beach, and guests at SeaSide can enjoy the beach just a few yards from the hotel. It's a quick and easy walk from the hotel to the beach, making it easier to transport your beach gear back and forth, as there are no rental stands nearby.
Family Dining
SeaSide offers a continental breakfast daily, from 6 to 10 a.m., in its onsite dining room. Breakfast selections include such items as cereal, breads and pastries, some breakfast meats, fruit, coffee, juice and milk. Adults pay $4.50 per day for breakfast, while children can eat for $2.50 per day. Given that each SeaSide unit comes with a full kitchen, guests also have the option to eat in their rooms at their own convenience, and at a similar or lower cost than the hotel's continental breakfast. Make a 5-minute walk to Lauren's Food Mart for cooking essentials.
For those who don't want to cook, there are many restaurants located within minutes of the hotel.
Planning & Tips
All About the Extras
Packages
SeaSide offers a number of special year-round packages that can take your family vacation to the next level. For instance, kids will love the Perfectly Pampered Prince & Princess Package, wherein they receive a royal certificate, turndown service with surprise treats, a crown and sword keepsake for princes, a tiara and wand keepsake for princesses, and VIP treatment when wearing said crown or tiara.
Fitness Center
If planning to work out on vacation, head to SeaSide's fitness center, located next door to the indoor pool area. Outfitted with cardiovascular machines and a set of dumbbells, the fitness center has just what you need to stay in shape.
The Art of Smart Timing
While SeaSide is open year-round, the summer continues to be the hotel's busiest season. Therefore, expect rates to be higher this time of year. Rates do drop as the weather cools off, with the hotel offering special monthly rental rates during the winter.
Regardless of time of year, SeaSide continues to offer its continental breakfast option. Also, pools are open, with the inside pool and lazy river being heated year-round. The outside pool is heated from the end of February to high season (usually in May) and again from mid-fall to November.
Average air temperature during the summer ranges from 82 to 94 degrees (F), and between 66 and 82 degrees (F) in the spring. Average fall temperatures range from 60 to 80 degrees (F), with average winter temps between 30 and 57 degrees (F). Hurricane season takes place between June and November, so be aware of the potential for dangerous weather conditions, too.
Getting There
SeaSide is approximately 20 miles north of Myrtle Beach International Airport. Although the hotel does not offer shuttle service between the hotel and airport, guests can arrange for taxi or shuttle service at the airport.
For those driving in from the north, consider taking Hwy. 22 (Veterans Highway) from I-95, which is a bypass to North Myrtle Beach, and then U.S. Hwy. 17 (North Kings Highway) is just south of the resort. By doing so, you will avoid much of the traffic and congestion found in downtown Myrtle Beach.
Getting Around
Most Myrtle Beach restaurants, attractions, golf courses and other sites of interest are not within walking distance of SeaSide. Book a rental car at the airport in order to get around the town.
For Mom and Dad
In the event mom and dad can slip away from the kids for a date night, SeaSide can help arrange such special treats as rose petals, champagne and chocolates, and even a Thai massage in the privacy of your own room. Of course, nothing is more romantic than a moonlit walk on the beach, which can be found right outside of the hotel.
