Located in Corpus Chrisit on North Padre Island, this seasonal water park resort offers families a ton of waterslide fun! The outdoor water park is separate from the hotel; however, all hotel guests can receive discounted rates to the park in the summer. The hotel features an onsite restaurant, separate hotel pool with cabanas available for rent, free Wi-Fi and tons of space for large families.

Families can connect as many as 26 rooms (!), so no matter how large your extended family may be, everyone can be accommodated. There’s no free breakfast, but the onsite restaurant serves up a huge breakfast buffet at a reasonable price. In the summer months, dive-in movies, live performances and more are happening at Schlitterbahn. Golf and tennis can be enjoyed year round, as well.

The Schlitterbahn Riverpark Resort is located 30 minutes from the Corpus Christi Airport and the downtown area. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the resort, including burger and pizza places, coffee shops, and seafood restaurants. You’re only 10 miles from the Padre Island National Seashore, which includes nearly 70 miles of sandy beaches and coastal prairies to explore. Kids can sign up for the junior ranger program at the visitor’s center. But you might end up sticking close to the more than 400 acres of lazy rivers, waterslides and wave pools at Schlitterbahn during your vacation. If you do drive into Corpus Christi for sightseeing, most of the museums and other attractions are in the North Beach area, 20 miles to the northwest of your hotel. The hotel features 92 guestrooms and suites and numerous abilities to connect additional rooms. The hotel can connect as many as 13 to 26 guestrooms, for when you bring the entire extended family to Corpus Christi! Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Large balconies connect many of the rooms, as well offering great views of the park.

Guestrooms

Standard guestrooms feature 14-foot ceilings, one king or two queen beds, a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and flat-screen television. Some of the guestrooms features a shower/tub combination and some feature a standup shower. Sleeper sofas are also available with some of the guestrooms, but not the interior guestrooms, which also do not have a window. Guestrooms can sleep between four and six people and can be connected to suites.

Suites

The large suites feature a separate living room area with two sleeper sofas, a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, dining table and a flat-screen television. A second flat-screen television can be found in the bedroom area, which has a door for privacy, and features a king or two queen beds. The suites can sleep up to seven people and can also connect to other suites and guestrooms.

Outdoor Pool

The heated, hotel pool area is designated specifically for hotel guests. Open year=round, it is separate from the water park, but only steps away from the slides. Lounge chairs surround the area and cabanas are also available to rent. Lifeguards are on duty in-season. The pool is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and pool towels are provided. Concession stands and the Veranda restaurant are only steps away and poolside service is also available. Restrooms and lockers are also nearby.

Outdoor Water Park

Not everyone visiting the water park is a guest of the hotel, but when guests stay at the hotel, discounted water park tickets can be included in the cost of the room. There are numerous waterslides, pools, rides and beaches for all ages at the water park. Padre Plunge is a flume ride that will get everyone wet. There is a wave pool and ride, 1-mile-long lazy river, and tube slides throughout. Teens will love the Speed Blaster inner tube slide and little kids will love Buccaneer Bay's pirate ship and spray guns. The water park is open daily from late May to late August and on weekends in September and April. Lifeguards are always on duty. Lockers are located near the Veranda Restaurant between the hotel pool and water park. Restrooms and concession stands are situated throughout the park as well.

Freedom Stage

An outdoor stage area is situated in front of the Veranda restaurant and on top of a zero-entry pool. Live performances take place throughout the summer months, as well as dive-in movies.

Golf and Tennis

A nine-hole golf course and several tennis courts are also available for guests to use.

While there is only one restaurant specifically at the hotel (water park guests can utilize this restaurant as well), there are several concession stands situated throughout the water park.

Veranda Restaurant

This casual restaurant is located in the hotel and open for Sunday breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is not included with your stay, but sometimes packages are offered that include breakfast. Things like tacos, shrimp, sandwiches, pizza and more are available on the menu. The kids' menu includes things like burgers, children tenders and grilled cheese. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available and the outside seating has a great view of the Freedom Stage, where performances are often taking place.

The Best Time to Visit

The hotel is open year-round for families to enjoy, but the attached water park is only open in the summer months from about late May to late August. It is also open on weekends in September and sometimes April, depending on weather. Most families visit when schools are closed for summer and the water park is in full operation.

Schlitterbahn Resort is situated on North Padre Island. The Corpus Christi International Airport is located about 30 minutes away from this hotel.

Getting Around

Families can easily walk to the Schlitterbahn water park, restaurant and concessions and golf course from guestrooms. But a vehicle is needed to see much of the Corpus Christi area.

A lounge/bar area is available to all guests and features billards tables and TVs, but this is mostly a bar area for adults. Happy hour drink specials run Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.
