Overview

Sawmill Creek is a great option for families visiting Sandusky who don’t want to be too near to Cedar Point Amusement Park, but want to be on the water with a beach. It’s about five miles away, and is located right on the shores of Lake Erie, with access to a marina, three restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach and all kinds of watersports. The beach is about a 10-minute walk from the rooms. The resort also has an 18-hole golf course and 500 acres to roam. Rooms have a lodge feel, and there are suites available for families. Some rooms have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs.

The resort is dated but well maintained. Our room was clean and didn't smell musty like many reviewers have said.Clean bathroom and nice clean beds. The outdoor pool area was really nice.Pool was clean and very large..The indoor pool was super warm and equally nice..we only ate the breakfast buffet which was typical but loved the waffles that had many toppings..The eggs mixed with mushrooms and cheese were my daughters favorite. Also the potatoes and bacon was delish...We took a short golf cart ride to the private beach which was awesome..at the end of the beach there is an opening that takes you to part of the marsh area with a boardwalk ,we truly enjoyed the scenery and nature..As far as the employees go ,the front desk women and golf cart driver were very helpful and friendly ,as were the restaurant employees. They do need to modernize the resort, but we knew what to expect as far as that goes. The only bad thing was there was no phone charger in the room, but we just used our car... We would definitely return and tell our friends about a Great stay at Sawmill Creek..

Spent 2 nights at Sawmill. We found the resort very nice. A bit dated in certain areas but well maintained. Nice pool area./ Would certainly recommend. Found the food in the restaurant very good, liked the Clam Chowder. The room was very clean and well maintained. I understand the resort was purchased by Cedar Point just prior to our stay. Probably a good move.
