Just returned from staying at SH and I found many great things about this place however there are also some major setbacks. The positives are; the grounds-- its beautiful, walking through the hotel feels very "tropical" as I love the plants situated all over.
I paid for a superior king room and got a junior suite (comes with couch). Room was very large which is the best suprise about this hotel. I was extremely comfortable maneuvering in my room, it felt like an apartment minus the kitchen. The beach front location is also great. Although the food was pricey, it often tasted good. The staff including housekeepers were also helpful and nice except for the gatekeeper (older gentlemen) who kept giving my driver an issue. Now comes the negatives. The continental breakfast is a waste of time, you are better of purchasing breakfast which is expensive at this hotel. I Was able to find a local restaurant for breakfast nearby which cost me way less. Also the furniture and building looks like it could use some refurbishing/painting but I'm not very picky about those details. LASTLY, THE JACCUZZI!!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY. The heater broke but the jacuzzi was still open for use,as it had the jets going. I got a skin infection from the hot tub germ infested water. It was after I got in, I realized I made a mistake as I could sense it was never cleaned nor maintained. This skin infection caused significant pain for me and it affected the rest of my trip. I think you take a risk by going to smaller hotels because they arent as regulated as the larger resorts so be aware of this. I also did not see anyone cleaning the pool either but I did not use the pool , I stayed in the salt water. Overall it is a good spot but I think the hotel has neglected its upkeep to a certain extent , and if given some more TLC , this could be 5 star.

My stay at this hotel for one night in March this year was so delightful I had to find a reason to go back! This time I stayed for 4 nights and I didn't want to leave. The hotel staff are warm and friendly and make you feel right at home. Pops, the bellman and Jack of All Trades is a treasure!
Rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Dressing Room is a very nice, elegant touch! The beach is great with ample lounge chairs and the water divine. Breakfast was included with my room, and I ate at the 2nd restaurant one night. No complaints - the meals were all delicious and the staff professional and friendly. If you don't want to eat there, no problem - a stroll down the beach in either direction will yield a number of restaurants and cafes where you can dine.
The property is small and after a while everybody knows everybody else so you feel like you're part of a family. The garden view from the room adds to that relaxing and 'right-at-home' feeling.
Rest assured, I'll be looking for another excuse to go back to Sandy Haven very soon!
