The San Alfonso del Mar is a massive private resort in Algarrobo, Chile, located about 62 miles west of Santiago. The resort is most famous for its swimming pool, and it holds the world record for second largest swimming pool. The pool is 3,323 feet long, covers 20 acres, is full of 66 million gallons of seawater and can reach depths of 115 feet. Please note this pool is not for swimming though; it’s for boating. But it’s the biggest draw to the property.
Onsite there is also a restaurant and fitness center. The beachfront property has family rooms and suites, and kitchenettes are available. There is a microwave and TV in the rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. There is also parking onsite.

After reading some of the reviews I have to mention San Alfonso del Mar is not a resort or a Hotel. It´s a condo complex. No matter what website you´re booking through, you´re renting an apartment from the owner. So yes, the building staff is not hotel personnel, their job is not to give you service. Make sure what ever you are looking for is clearly stated wherever you´re booking and or ask your host before arrival. I believe many condo owners live in Santiago, and probably won´t be near by to help you.
The giant pool is more of an artificial lagoon, which you can do water sports in, but cannot swim in it. All the residents had their own kayaks for example. Each building had their own Kayak storage near the pool, marked with the apartment's numbers. So ask ahead, because we were unable to rent one (sunday / offseason).
The swimming pools in front of every building seemed big enough, but probably get very full in high season.
We had lunch at the restaurant inside the complex, there were 3 I believe, but only one was open. (again off season on a sunday) . Lunch was "expensive" but excellent. And the view was incredible.
Beach chairs also had apartment numbers on them, so also probably check ahead if you are a large group. Again, the front desk staff was helpful, but they´re not there to help you get chairs ect...
There was a "Spa" with a heated indoor pool (great view), Jacuzzi, sauna.. but you have to pay to use them.

My wife and I came her for a birthday/anniversary trip. The scenery and location of this resort was amazing. I can't say enough about how fun the entertainment staff was to interact with. Shout out to Juan, Roberto, Emilio, Abraham, and Antonella for a great time! Brian/Allison Fraley
