Overview

The Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C. is a sleepy area near George Washington University and a Metro stop, and one of my favorite neighborhoods to visit when I’m in town with the kids. It feels safe, and it’s only a few blocks from the National Mall, the White House and dining in Georgetown and Dupont Circle. And whenever we go, we stay at the River Inn, a boutique, all-suite property that gives us room to spread out and options to eat in when we’re tired from a day of sightseeing.

I poured over so many hotel reviews on Trip Advisor for the Washington D. C area!! I finally ended up settling on The River Inn in the Georgetown area. The accommodations were spacious for my friend and I who travelled for a business/pleasure trip. If you are going to spend about average of $200 per night, go ahead and book at this hotel with suites. The bedroom is actually a separate room with an actual door for more privacy. There is also a living room, dining area and kitchenette giving my friend and I plenty of space. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood with the metro easily accessed a few blocks away enabling easy access to all of the other area we visited while there. The staff were very professional , attentive, and friendly. We ate breakfast in the restaurant one morning. The food was great! Our waiter, Jose was very helpful and friendly. The Kennedy Center was within walking distance and a "must see!" Also, it is close to Reagan National Airport. I would definitely stay here again!!

Wow. Great neighborhood, fun bikes they loaned us (as well as tools and pumps!), spotless large room (altho noisy AC). Kara and Adrienne at desk so helpful and charming in every way. Loved being near

Family Activities
As a typical city hotel, the River Inn does not provide activities for families, but instead serves as a comfortable place to rest between sightseeing in the city.
The hotel does, however, provide complimentary two-hour bike rentals (based on first-come, first-serve availability) to enjoy a leisurely ride on the C&O Canal bike trail.
Family Dining
DISH + drinks, the hotel's cozy onsite restaurant, serves American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also provides room service to guests. Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on weekends. Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, and dinner is available every night but Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and until 11 p.m. on weekends.
