Another Pittsburgh icon and must-eat is Primanti Brothers. This is the place that serves up Pittsburgh’s favorite sandwich with French fries between the bread. These overstuffed sandwiches are “almost famous” for a reason — the crispy French fries, coleslaw and your choice of meat (salami, roast beef or turkey) fight for real estate on thick slices of soft Italian bread. There are 10 locations across town but the Strip District location is the original and where the Primanti story all started. Locations are open 24 hours, seven days a week.
