Cozy and time-honored, One Trick Pony is housed in the oldest continually occupied building in Grand Rapids and it’s a super short walk to the Children’s Museum. If these brick walls could talk, they would say that this local stalwart — a hub for both music and food lovers — performs its “one trick” of serving up fresh and delectable food well. Choose indoor seating and check out the taproom area of the 18-year-old restaurant, which originally housed Oliver Bleak’s 1856 General Store, or select the sidewalk patio outside for sunshine and people watching. There’s no kids menu, but even picky eaters will find a pie they like on the build-your-own pizza menu. Grown-up gourmands can choose from roasted beet salad (divine with added tuna), pan-seared walleye, curried quinoa and cider-poached sausage pizza among other savory picks.
