Lake Placid, New York, has a few breweries. But the one you absolutely have to visit is Big Slide Brewery & Public House. While it’s widely known for its Giant IPA—awarded the number one DIPA in New York State at the 2017 NY Craft Beer Competition—Big Slide offers a variety of craft brews, including pilsners, sours, cream ales and stouts. Have a pint or sample several in a flight. 

Big Slide Brewery also serves food, most of which is sourced from local ingredients. You’ll find shareable plates (the pretzel nuggets are a must), brick-oven pizzas, salads and small plates, and full entrees on the menu. Many of the options are vegan, and gluten-free pizza crust and bread is available.

Big Slide Brewery is open year-round. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
