Located just 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport in downtown Tampa, the Residence Inn Tampa Sabal Park/Brandon is conveniently situated near Interstate-75 for stopoffs on Florida roadtrips. The rooms all have full kitchens with stovetops, dishwashers, microwaves and all the silverware and pots and pans you need to cook and enjoy meals in. My wife and I stayed there during a recent work trip. The condition of the hotel is decent. It is just about ready for a face lift. The management has absolutely no hospitality skills.
My wife and i get up early for work and enjoy our morning coffee and quiet relaxing time together. After about seven days of doing this using the hotel's patio, a manager, McKenzie who was training a new night shift employee followed my wife and I out to the patio. She began scolding us like children and told us we could not be out there as it is closed. I explained the sign inside states the pool is closed and that when we had toured the facility prior to checking in it was clearly explained we could use the patio any time and use our room key if it is locked. I explained I did not understand why it is different today. Once I became frustrated with her badgering she became passive aggressive with us. I stated I was not going to take my wife out to the parking lot she recommended with the homeless and other unsavory characters in the area. I explained the hotel does not have a security guard or cameras and our safety should be a concern to the hotel.
When I discussed it later that day with the GM his response was just as poor as McKenzie's. I explained what their sign states about pool hours. He said he accepts responsibility for the miscommunication but made no offer or attempt to rectify the poor treatment by their staff.

This property is gorgeous. Newly renovated. Close to so many great restaurants and attractions. Reasonably quick drive to some iconic places like Mazzaros italian market and deli, Jo-Els deli and kosher market (notice a theme here?), Tampa Riverwalk, Amalie Arena, IKEA, etc.
But, let's get back to the hotel. The staff was extraordinary (Roger at the front desk couldn't have been more welcoming and gave us an anniversary gift). Lots of othe helpful, friendly folks on staff. Others staying at the hotel seemed like VERY happy guests too.
The property is set in the kind of park-like location we like like...quiet, yet close to shopping and highways.
Thanks for such a great stay!
