I’m a long-term Residence Inn loyalist, but the last three visits to the brand, in 3 different states, all left the same impression: great people, let down by threadbare, uncomfortable furniture and deferred maintenance/lack of attention to detail (doors that won’t stay open/closed, missing covers on toilet hardware, worn carpet, and more.) That said, the standard breakfast was fine, and the kitchen staff were friendly and engaged...it was a joy to watch them interact with some of the kids at breakfast! The front desk staff were also friendly, engaged and accommodating. Marriott needs to update these aging properties, and make the interior designers live with their furniture choices for weeks!

The Residence Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City is more/less what you'd expect by booking this type of hotel. The rooms are large and spacious with a built in kitchen / sitting area. The bedroom is sparely decorated, focusing primarily on the king-sized bed. The bathroom is nothing to write home about, with an integrated bath/shower & my least favorite of all Marriott appliances...the shower head. I despise their shower heads - with high pressure they are like a firehose and with low pressure they seem to barely provide coverage; is it that hard to just install normal shower-heads that have standard spray patterns? Soap-box regarding shower-heads aside, the hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Furnishings and room layouts are not of the highest quality, nor the newest sort of design. There are definitely more stylish hotels around - though if you're looking for a good amount of space and a good nights rest, this hotel definitely delivers.
