This funky, bright yellow Residence Inn is just minutes west of the airport and due north of downtown Portland off of the I-5 highway. Guests will be treated to the same level of service and amenities that make Residence Inn such a popular and reliable stop for traveling families. There’s the tennis court and seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub, the famous free breakfast buffet, free parking and airport shuttle, complimentary high speed Wi-Fi and rooms with full kitchen, king beds plus sleeper sofas or the two-bedroom suite with a pair of bathrooms, a king bed, queen bed and the pullout sofa for larger families or smaller ones who need some privacy while traveling. In all the rooms is a small dining room table, that full kitchen with full size equipment to prepare meals and a dishwasher to clean up.

We spent a week here...the 2 rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was terrific with lots of variety and daily differences. We really enjoyed our stay! The kitchen is well equipped so we cooked our suppers in the room to suit our tastes. Both Costco and a Walmart Super Centre are relatively nearby so it was easy to shop daily for whatever ingredients we might need to satisfy our daily cravings.

So let's start with the good. Friendly and accommodating staff all around. Decent breakfast options: scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, bacon or sausage (both pork and turkey), breads and muffins, fruits, cereal, and a waffle machine with friendly and helpful breakfast staff. Rooms are spacious and comfortable for the most part.
The Bad. Room was not ready at check-in. While front desk and manager were apologetic and tried accommodate and make amends, bottom line room was not ready at check in.
The Ugly. Here's what killed my rating. When my room was ready, one hour after check in time - it smelled like a litter box and what appeared to be cat(?) food was scattered on the floor. Likewise, the bathroom smelled like urine, as if someone (or something) had peed all over the floor. Last but not least, at least in my room, you could hear the plumbing from the other room(s) - whenever someone flushed the toilet or used the shower, you could hear the water rushing through the pipes --- and it was not a quiet rush.
There are two other Marriott properties more or less next door and I would stay at one of those before returning to the Residence Inn.
