Overview
by Lissa Poirot
Tucked away from the beach and crowded areas of Fort Lauderdale is an intimate hotel, the Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale. It may be hard to find, and not within walking distance of the best the city has to offer, but for families, it’s a great hotel providing suites with full kitchens, dining areas and living space. While the property is a Residence Inn, it feels luxurious and like a boutique property, nestled along the Intracoastal Waterway. Upper corner rooms are the largest, with oversized balconies providing views of the ocean and waterway. Take advantage of the hotel’s spacious rooms, free breakfast and free Wi-Fi, and drive your family to see the sites. This property is a gem!

I had the opportunity of staying at this hotel for a little over 6 months and i have nothing but praise for this hotel and all of the wonderful staff that work there. The General Manager Donnie and his front desk staff makes sure that everyone checking in is treated with respect and smile no matter how unruly or rude of patron you are. I was able to observe this first hand through my many days there. This is also the only Residence Inn I know of that has Valet parking and the gentleman working valet are first class 24hours a day. The rooms offer you a breathtaking view every morning and evening unlike any other i can remember overlooking the beautiful Fort Lauderdale intracoastal. The real hidden gem here though is there restaurant that isn't advertised but their chefs can prepare some of the best Italian dishes in the area with an awesome view for dining. The hotel has recently underwent a renovation that only added to the beauty and design of the rooms here.
P.S. if the staff ever reviews this i would like to say to Ashley, Danae, Danielle, Stacey, Chris, Melton, Jorge and Corey. That you guys are awesome at what you do!

I found myself looking for a hotel near Lauderdale by the Sea and came across this Marriott property. I was pleasantly surprised with a GREAT stay. Hotel feels new. Rooms were large and comfortable. Great views of the Inter-coastal water way. Staff was good, valet parking available. Also close to restaurants and live music. I would definitely recommend this Residence Inn and will be back.

The Art of Smart Timing
South Florida is a year-round vacation destination, although peak periods of travel surround the holidays and spring break. During the summer months, temperatures can soar, bringing afternoon thundershowers and, late in the season, hurricanes. The best time to travel is fall and late spring.
Getting There
The hotel is just 15 miles from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The hotel does not provide shuttle service, and taxis will cost about $30 each way. The hotel is a little tricky to find, as it often comes up at Il Lugano rather than Residence Inn on GPS. The hotel name is also not featured prominently, and the building looks residential, confusing would-be guests from driving up its ramp to the valet and check-in area.
Getting Around
Guests of the hotel and the Fort Lauderdale area will want a car to see the sites and enjoy South Florida. The only daily parking provided at the hotel is valet, which is $30 per day. Off-site parking is available at lots with hourly fees.
