5 Star hotel at 3 Star hotel prices

Flew in for a quick weekend getaway with some girlfriends, who came in from across the country. They stayed at the pricier Marriott version a few blocks away; I chose Capital View for a few reasons: a.) airport shuttle- very convenient. Took the shuttle back from the Metro also- awesome service. b.) free wifi c.) breakfast included just in case (although I did not eat; I am a coffee-only gal) d.) kitchen area that included full size coffee maker and full size fridge. There is a small "store" where you can purchase snacks in the lobby, and a restaurant is attached to the building.
The suites are spacious, clean, updated and comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped; and the area is ample enough to have guests in - another great way to save money on pre-dinner appetizers and cocktails! The bed was comfy, the bath clean and full with a full tub.
The staff was friendly, helpful and timely- every person I met from drivers to cleaners were courteous and greeted each and every guest. Check in was quick and check out was done ahead of time, so all you had to do was drop your key. Staying here was a good decision and hopefully I will get a chance to return soon. BTW, my friends agree that next time they will skip the "W" hotel and choose Capital View.

A Capital Idea

This was my 8th stay at the Residence Inn - Capital View. Each Fall we bring a group of university students to the DC area. This location is especially well suited for our group, with easy access to the Metro system at nearby Reagan National Airport and Crystal City.A free shuttle to and from the subway is very helpful. While the hotel do not have an on site restaurant, there are dozens of eateries within easy walking distance. The staff are most welcoming from check-in throughout our stay. The inclusion of a complimentary breakfast each morning is most helpful and cuts down on expenses. The quality of the food is good. An excellent gym is open 24/7, a nice plus.
The rooms are well appointed and have a nice kitchen with stove top, large refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Comfortable beds are particularly welcome following a full day of meetings or sightseeing. Alexandria, VA is a short distance away as is Roslyn, VA.
I highly recommend staying at the Capital View the next time your travels bring you to the DC area.
