This recently renovated hotel is ideal for a family of four or five visiting the small town of Cordova. Their Commodore Suite features two bedrooms with queen beds, plus space for a crib or rollaway. It also contains a full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, oven and coffeemaker. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, laundry service, private balcony and free coffee and tea. Guests are provided a free continental breakfast in the lobby each morning. If you want a heartier start to your day, the onsite restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, which you can enjoy on their large outdoor deck overlooking the boat harbor.
The Reluctant Fisherman Inn is located in the heart of downtown Cordova on the east side of scenic Prince William Sound. No roads connect Cordova to other Alaskan towns, so it’s only accessible by ferry or plane. Your hotel puts you within easy walking distance of most of the shops, restaurants, tour companies and activities in the area. Kids will love the up-close guided tours of Childs Glacier, which is famous for its spectacular calving icebergs that are so big they can send a 10-foot wave rippling across the river to the opposite shore. There are also plenty of easy to moderate hiking trails in the nearby Chugach National Forest. With its spacious suite, onsite restaurant and prime waterfront location, the Reluctant Fisherman Inn is a great choice for your family vacation to Alaska.

The room we stayed in had no air conditioning and with unseasonable warm weather the room was at least 90 degrees inside when we entered. We opened the window which did little to cool it down without cross ventilation. A table fan was requested but just moved the hot air around. The window opened over the parking lot and adjacent street which made it very noisy.
One of the two double queen beds was pushed up to a sidewall preventing one person from getting off the bed without scooting down to the bottom of the bed. Clearly not enough room for two queen beds.
There was no fridge or coffee maker. Though they offered free WiFi it was for the most part unusable where our room was located. Only in the lobby was it barely acceptable. The room was dated and needed remodeling. On a positive not there were adequate plugins on the center side table for USB and 110 volt appliances. Priced at over $200/night I’ve had a lot better.
The included ‘continental ‘ breakfast was a joke. Raisin bread and two other kinds for making toast, coffee, hot water dispenser for tea or hot chocolate and oatmeal. While having toast and coffee, I noticed the staff partaking and by the time I went for a second round of toast, they had eaten all of the bread without replenishing any of it.
Their bar and restaurant was much better but, like all things in Alaska, pricey.

The Reluctant Fisherman Inn is exactly as expected - a classic hotel in Alaska - with a view of the working waterfront and bar/restaurant attached. Within walking distance to everything in Cordova. Rooms were clean with a mini fridge and TV. Coffee ready down the hall in the main lounge with bread, muffins, and bagels in the morning. The hotel staff is friendly and will help find any accommodation needed.
If you have trouble walking, ask for a room closer to the lobby and main entrance.
