If you need to keep your trip to the Lansing area under a tight budget, this Red Roof is available to provide you and your kids and place to stay that will keep your bank account flush to explore central Michigan in style. Rooms with a pair of beds, flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi will do for short stays but the lack of a pool or even the usual Red Roof’s free breakfast are strikes against this hotel located 10 minutes west of the capital and 15 minutes from Michigan State University and all the green and white championship sports. Parking is free and some rooms feature microwaves and mini-refrigerators, inquire at time of booking for those perks.

The room was very clean and comfortable. I loved the fact it had a desk which was a nice place to sit and watch TV as I don't like watching from the bed. Also appreciated that the room had a safe. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area and an absolutely amazing farmers market almost right next door. Can't remember the name of it but check it out. My only 2 complaints on the room was the mattress was probably near the end of its life and should be replaced and the wifi was terrible. My phone constantly dropped and my tablet couldn't even find the network. I called the front desk and they said they'd cycle the router but it didn't help.

The room was clean and comfortable, check-in was convenient and fast. But while the rooms are non-smoking, the balcony (2nd floor) and sitting areas in front of the rooms were not....having to step over and around folks chain smoking to get to my car or the vending machines was unsettling. And the smoke, naturally, tended to drift into the indoor air. The parking lot was also active with loud music and lotsa hollerin' and whoopin' early in the evening.....seemed like there were a lot of long-term guests inviting friends and family over. To be fair, it was quiet by bedtime. Will likely spend a few more bucks for something a little more private next time.
