This budget hotel is good for a small family looking for a reliable room at a low price. Its standard rooms include two double beds and space for a crib or rollaway. Each room also has a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Kids will love the snack center in the lobby, which also has complimentary coffee for the parents. The free continental breakfast is small, but filling, with something for everyone, including eggs, cereal, waffles, and fruit. Other amenities include a seasonal outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and a coin laundry.
The Red Roof Inn is in a convenient location on the eastern side of town. There are fast food and casual restaurants within easy walking distance of your hotel. Several museums are less than a minute’s drive away, including the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum, and the new Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian. Also near your hotel is the popular Big Texan Steak Ranch, where you can rustle up one of the best steaks in all of Texas. If you’re brave enough, take the 72-ounce steak dinner challenge and impress your kids with how much food you can eat in one sitting. The Red Roof Inn puts you within 30 miles of the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon, a great place for family-friendly hiking amidst stunning desert scenery. With its convenient location, low rates, and comfortable rooms, the Red Roof Inn will help make your Amarillo vacation a memorable one.

We chose this hotel due to the amazingly low rate for a weekend. We saw the $100 damage deposit, but did not worry because we are orderly, clean respectable individuals. The room was basic and served it's purpose. However, a week after check out our $100 pending hold on our credit card became a $100 settled transaction! I called the hotel, where the clerk informed me that we had smoked in the room and they were keeping our deposit. Now, my fiance and I are over 40 and have never smoked in our whole lives. The clerk told me "the owner is gone until Monday." I'm not holding my breath...I have a strong suspicion this is a scheme to pad their pockets.

I booked a two-night stay at this dump through Hotels.com based solely on their reviews. I was shocked that a Motel at this price would have such high reviews. Upon our arrival we I immediately began to feel uneasy by the appearance (and the indifferent treatment) of the lobby personnel. But it was not until we arrived in our room and checked the beds that we found BED BUGS!!! When I brought it to the attention of the lobby personal, their indifferent, lack of alarm, was telling. Wanting to give this dump the benefit of the doubt, I reluctantly agreed to checking out another room. It too had BED BUGS. Now all I wanted to do was stand under a HOT SHOWER and scream!!!
Now, I am a big Motel 6 fan, so I am not expecting much from a Motel. But, what I do expect is a CLEAN, safe place to stay with my family when I am on the road. Lesson learned, I checked into the Motel 6 a couple of exits away from this horrible place.
If you, like me, depend on TripAdvisor reviews, make sure that you know that the reviews of any hotel on Hotels.com are the combination of Hotel.com reviewers (which, by the way, you can only post IF YOU ACTUALLY STAY At THE HOTEL, and since I cancelled the reservation I could not post my review) and TripAdvisor reviewers. When separated, I learned that this pigsty got all the reviews it deserves from the TripAdvisor members.
