Overview
by Courtney Elko
This former convent located in the heart of Oaxaca City was restored in 1976 and reflects all the finer details of the hotel’s former life, along with modern conveniences. The huge “lavaderos,” which looks like an outdoor chapel or stone gazebo, sits in one courtyard. It was restored for mere décor, but once was where the nuns from the convent washed clothes. The 18 stone sinks are still visible. Located only one block away from Santo Domingo, it is said that underground tunnels were once used by nuns and priests traveling between the church and convent.
Families will love to spend some quality time by the large outdoor pool, and the onsite restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel’s open air feel keeps things cool at night and the high ceilings in the guestrooms make the rooms feel even more spacious. For a luxurious stay with a bit of history, Quinta Real is the place for families to stay in Oaxaca.

The Hotel is in a great position but the suites yes they have the nerve to call them that! Are small dark and poorly furnished. The bathrooms are so small the sink isn't even in it! The staff are good but the Hotel needs some real money spent on it!

The staff and system at this smart 5 star hotel are really lacking in charm.
We arrived with a group well after a long tiring delayed flight after the official check in time of three and they still didn’t have two rooms ready.
Why on earth can this happen?
It’s just st really poor management and the response was you can wait in the bar and have a free coffee...........
Check in takes ages and it’s charm free
You really feel as guest that you are a secondary consideration when you should be the primary one.
The cleaning staff and porters are excellent.
